You may want to join an optional Dutch dinner with local specialties. | | Day 4 | Coblenz | Enjoy a CANAL CRUISE aboard a glass-roofed launch, which is the best way to get a good impression of how this city was built and how much still remains from the Golden Age. Depart for Coblenz, the German city where the Rhine and Moselle Rivers come together. An optional excursion to an impressive Rhine castle is available. (B,D) | | Day 5 | Munich | Start this morning with a romantic RHINE CRUISE past castle-crested cliffs, terraced vineyards, and trim, half-timbered towns. Next, leave the Rhineland and enter Bavaria for your overnight stay in its capital, Munich. See the Olympic Park and the 1,000-foot-high Television Tower. This evening, visit MARIENPLATZ and enjoy dinner at a local restaurant. (B,D) | | Day 6 | Vienna | Cross the border into Austria and drive past the lovely Salzkammergut Lake District and along the Danube Valley to Vienna. (B) | | Day 7 | Vienna | Guided sightseeing features Prater Park with its Ferris wheel, the United Nations City on the Danube, the State Opera House, the Jewish quarter, a stop at the Hofburg Palace, and a visit to STRAUSS' HOUSE. Optional excursions to Schonbrunn Palace or to Grinzing for a taste of Heurigen wine are available. (B) | | Day 8 | Innsbruck | A short drive to Salzburg, where your Local Guide takes you through the historic center. Admire exquisite MIRABELL GARDENS, the Great Festival Hall, ST. During your walking tour, admire Thorwaldsen's LION MONUMENT and the ornate patrician houses lining the cobblestone streets of the walled Old Town, then cross the famous covered CHAPEL BRIDGE to the Jesuit Church. Afterwards, shop for Swiss watches and this evening you may wish to join a folklore party with yodeling and alphorn blowing. (B) | | Day 10 | Black Forest | Time this morning to choose from our optional activities: climb a mountain by cable car or take a cruise on the fjord-like lake. Then, turn north, re-enter Germany, and enter lush valleys and pine-clad hills of the Black Forest, renowned for its cuckoo clocks. (B,D) | | Day 11 | Paris | A short drive across the French border to pretty Strasbourg, where you will board the high-speed TGV TRAIN to Paris. You may wish to try out one of Paris' fine restaurants and to explore the 'City of Light.' (B) | | Day 12 | Paris | Discover the world capital of chic and style with a Local Guide and admire its most famous sights: the Opera, Arc de Triomphe, Champs-Elysees, and Notre Dame Cathedral.
